The road to Riverside Cemetery is just off Highway 84 at the southern boundary of the city limits, and the property goes back a few blocks to a stand of huge pines. The site is a beautiful spot nestled peacefully on the high bank of the Little Boy River.
Located between 135-193 on Riverside Drive, Riverside Cemetery is a non-denominational cemetery that serves as the final resting place for many of Longville's founding families and notable residents who helped shape the community's history.
Originally established through the remarkable community spirit of "The Willing Workers" ladies society in 1920, nowadays daily operations are managed by the City of Longville.

Historical Significance and Timeline:
Riverside Cemetery was established in 1920 when the owners of the Bide-A-Wee Inn hotel (operating today as the Longville Inn) generously donated an acre of land along the Little Boy River and sold an adjoining one and a half acres to the town for $100. The spot was chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Jordan as the resting place for their little son Billy, who died of Scarlet Fever in 1915.
At the time, the town board declined to shoulder responsibility for the cemetery, so a ladies society called "The Willing Workers" stepped forward to run things. The organization would eventually be formally incorporated as "The Longville Welfare Society" in 1921, renamed “Longville Ladies Community Aid” in 1926, and later divested as “Riverside Cemetery Association” in 1929. In 1944, the association would transfer all of its operations to the City of Longville when most of the original members had passed away or were unable to continue their work.
